Dr. Rich Panico's practice is geared towards a holistic health based approach to reducing symptoms and restoring vitality in individuals who are dealing with adaptation to chronic illness. He is especially interested in working with individuals struggling with cancer, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, insomnia, fatigue states, irritable bowel, migraines, anxiety, and depression.
Dr. Panico is a board certified psychiatrist with 37 years of clinical experience and is the founder and former medical director of the Athens Regional Mind Body Institute from which he recently retired. Dr. Panico has worked in diverse settings and has a special interest in mindfulness, mind body medicine, nutrition and psychotherapy. He is former clinical faculty at the Medical College of Georgia and is on the teaching faculty of the Institute of Functional Medicine and with the University of Georgia's science program in Cortona, Italy. He is a consultant with the family medicine residency program at Tallahasse Memorial Hospital, helping design and implement a medical symptom reduction program for individuals with chronic complex medical conditions.
